LoveALocalBusiness.com is Intuit's grant competition that rewards businesses who are loved by their community. But, an obvious question remains open: What does it mean to be a local business?
The Local Hero Challenge is a brief, 10-question survey that helps small businesses assess their positive impact on society, and on their local community in particular. The survey was developed in partnership with B Lab, a non-profit that certifies and supports a new type of company, called B Corporations, which use the power of business to solve social and environmental issues. The Local Hero Challenge looks at five attributes important to B Corporations - environment, consumers, community, employees and accountability.
Small businesses owners often are recognized as community leaders, but, we expect many of you will learn that you're much more important - you're a Local Hero. In addition to a copy of the final survey results, every business who completes the Local Hero Challenge will get a special badge to share on their Website or blog. Learn more here.
